"happening now." good morning to you on this thursday. i'm jon scott. jenna: it would nice to have cheetos on set so we could investigate properly. jon: you're making me hungry. jenna: there are a lot of topics to bet to today. we are glad you are with us. i'm jenna lee. 19 days until election day. and now a new presidential poll revealing something rehave not yet seen in the race for the white house, governor romney's lead over president obama among likely voters is outside the margin of error for the very first time. it's a new gallop daily tracking poll and it's showing the governor with his biggest lead to date 51-45%. up 6 points over the president. this is an important reminder, this latest survey was taken before tuesday's second presidential debate. we'll see if that has any affect at all. following the first presidential debate we saw how any performance on the national stage can really influence polls. tonight the president and governor will be on the same stage again, or be on or share a stage together again, it's not the same stage but in a much different setting. i hope -- may

this big impact on these shares here at the nasdaq. >> jon fortt i'm sure is digging into the whys of this. i just walking downstairs here am not sure whether this is a classic case of sort of a fat finger, somebody hit the button on the release with because one of the releases that i'm looking at here has a block in there saying pending larry quote. larry page, of course, the c.o.o. of that company. maybe this release was let go and freed out to the public simply by mistake. that's my speculation, not based on anything authoritative that i have heard. revenues were higher than a year ago at $14.1 billion. that's up about 45%, compared with the third quarter of 2011. but the net income numbers were certainly lower. 2.18 billion compared to 2.73 billion. on an eps basis, it was $6.53 compared with $8.33 in the third quarter of 2011. the non-gap numbers -- 903 compared to 972 in the third quarter of 2011. on both gap and non-gap, clearly a decline in earnings, in profit there and that is reflected in what you see in the stock, halted now at $678.30. sue? >> indeed, ty, we're going to continu

they are still halted down by 9%. >>> we have jon fortt, kayla tausche, anthony diclemente, a analyst at google. i'd like to get to anthony. what's your thought on this issue? >> look, i think that the circus surrounding this prerelease is going to foreshadow the fundamentals. but when you look at the numbers, a lot of the miss was driven by motorola. i think that investors in google are going to stay focused on the core business where if you look at units of clicks, we're up 33% in a quarter. that's a good number. if you look at cpc declines down 15, that's a little bit better than last quarter. i know you're talking about the magnitude of the miss, but i would say investors in google would ascribe a lower penalty on a miss that was related to motorola mobility. if you look at the mauultiple, still think google's worth more than $800 a share. >> but here's the thing. doesn't sound like you believe the numbers to be that bad. so how much of the giant drop in google shares that we saw right after this was related to the fact that the earnings came out early. no one knew what to do and they panic

for joining us. i'm jon kelley. happening in oakland, unmanned predator drones continue flying over the skies of afghanistan and other parts of the middle east. the very same kind of drone that may soon be flying over the skies of the bay area. the shash arrieriff wants to uso help with crowd control and firefighting. opponents say they feel this idea is an invasion of privacy. >> reporter: those owe ppponent include the aclu, they're having a news conference here at the steps of city hall in oakland. they're here to denounce the idea. civil libertarians argue sheriff needs to obtain a warrant every time he uses a drone. they argue the drones should not be used by the sheriff for random mass surveillance. the sheriff says he needs the drones for infrared surveillance. the drones would cost between $50,000 and $100,000. and they could also help in detecting illegal pot brews inside someone's home. the military uses similar technology to go after al qaeda and other terrorist groups. the local drones would be smaller and would not carry weapons. someone would control the unmanned drones remotely
